Adoration 3

The shout stopped the party and even interrupted the band as what appeared to be a highly ranked noble of the area voiced his displeasure at Roma’s appearance as one of the guests of honor. “I heard rumors about you, but I never suspected that a dark elf could have gone down the straight path. I figured you would be some dark skinned person from sunnier regions but turns out I was right. You can not be no hero, you people are nothing but cut throat killers and thugs!” The noble spat though he seemed to mellow his tone in his verbal assault once he had rallied attention to his cause. Though as the crowd muttered and murred about what do to, what to think with the man in this position, a loud but small voice stood up for the dark elf. “Perhaps it is you that is the fool, and she is the saint!” The voice was loud and broke over the storm of silence as the crowd wondered who has spoke and soon then they parted as Neiko, the little warrior stepped forth.

“Oh, what is this now?” The noble could not believe that someone of Neiko’s stature was here to stand up to him. “You are the second guest of honor are you not? I truly did not believe that you were indeed a short as they say. You look like a child, I am surprised that you even were able to defeat the local bully than the bandits that you have turned in. It was probably all the work of this dark elf murderer, you just supply her with information to make yourselves famous and line your pockets with coin! I refuse to believe your lies any further. You may have these people fooled but I, assure you little lady. I am, no fool.” The noble’s words were searing as made his verbal stand against Neiko who took center stage on the conflict she had just entered.

Roma rose up from her seat, intent on stopping Neiko from getting in over her head but to her surprise Neiko motioned for her to relax, sit down. Neiko had this under control and the expression that the little warrior flashed to Roma assured her enough that as her backside hit the seat she was sure that Neiko would put this fool in his place. “I shall convince you sir, that you are indeed a fool and I will do it in in three points of argument.” Neiko said as the man just let a ‘tch’ escape his lips. Finding Neiko’s confidence and boldness like that of a child trying to act above their expected level. “Now, my first point.” Neiko said as she started to pace around the small space where the party had gathered to watch this battle of the words. “Of why you are a fool. Is a simple one really, you say that all dark elf people are nothing but murderous thugs? Correct me if I’m wrong but if you have read the same history books that I have. You do know that some of the best assassins in history were of her blood. Do you really think calling her out on that would be the best of ideas?” Neiko punctuated with a smug and confident tone as the noble had a shock of realization pass over his face before suddenly he regained his composure and resumed his attack. “Are you threatening me you brat? I will have the guard here to take you away before you know what is what.” The noble did have an impressive rebuttal but Neiko seemed undisturbed. Her small, childish face held the same confidence it had once before.

“Which brings me to my second point.” Neiko started. “IF she is indeed a deadly and dangerous killer, there is no way for you to know that. This party is in our honor, the guard is present but not tough enough that she could not slit your throat now for your insults and get out before the guards caught her, are you sure they could even be a match for her?” Neiko was pressing the attack now. The crowd hung on her every word as she pressed his noble into a logical corner as that lost and flustered expression remained longer on his face with each passing gaze from his eyes to the eyes of the crowd as he was unsure of what to say in reply. Though he regained his composure it was not until Neiko had started closing the distance between herself and this man.

“And point three, what makes you think that she is the only deadly one in this room?” Neiko said her voice starting normal and then dipped into a cold, sadistic tone as with a flash a meat small steak knife slipped from her form. Suddenly she deftly threw it at the man, showing his quick reflex he dodged along with a surprised crowd as the knife stuck into a pillar a short distance away as Neiko just stood there afterwards. Arms across her flat chest. “Hah, that is an impressive trick brat. But that is all that it is, you could not hurt a fly!” The noble spat, feeling steam return to his side in this duel of words though that was nothing until Neiko parted her arms and revealed a shiny gold watch that she dangled from its chain. “Then, this isn’t your watch? Guess I’ll just take it.” Neiko said as she piled the chain and watch in her palm as the man checked his pockets and the watch was indeed missing. Stunning all Neiko just smiled. “People work hard to be good at one thing in this word. Something, good or bad but never demean or have bias towards some-ones skill because you never know what that skill is, and if they will use it on you.” Neiko said, a smug point to end this debating battle as promised as she tossed the stunned man his watch as she began to walk away. The crowd parting for the little warrior as suddenly there was applause and cheers for what they had just witnessed as Neiko vanished in the crowd, Roma wondered where Neiko had gone as the evening wore on and it was almost time to settle in, for the evening.
